For International Students, there is not much choice available in terms of accommodation. They can either stay in University/ College accommodation or can stay in private rented accommodation e.g. shared apartments, bed-sits, as paying guests or with relatives.

University/ College Accommodation

Most British Universities and Colleges generally guarantee accommodation to international students as long as they have accepted an unconditional offer to a full time course and have applied by the deadline date set by the university/ college accommodation office. If you apply after this deadline, the university/ college will try and provide you with the accommodation.

Once you are allocated an accommodation, a contract document is sent asking you to decide whether to accept or reject the offer of accommodation. On accepting this offer, you will be required to send a deposit to the university/ college along with the signed contract to reserve the accommodation. Failure to return the signed contract and the deposit may lead to the withdrawal of offer of accommodation.

Cost of University/ College Accommodation

The university/ college accommodation cost varies depending on the type of accommodation you are allocated. The cost of a single room in a self-catering hall of residence will be cheaper than a single room with attached bathroom in a catering hall of residence.
